This well-loved tale of star crossed lovers and forest fairies is reflected from the ephemeral glow of the powders to the sparkle of the nail enamels. Taking a touch of faery magic with the green-hued packaging inspired by the magical green faery, Absinthe.

The collection comprises of shimmering body lotions, face powders, glosse’s & nail enamels. Available exclusively from Asos & Harrods, launching elsewhere from June.

So the economies only gone & bitten us in the arse again hasn’t it? Well fret not dear readers, just because times are hard again doesn’t mean that your make up kit has to suffer as well! Here’s a few of our favourite places for those on trend & staple essentials at a mere snippet of the high end, designer price!

MUA (Make up academy) – a great little find you could easily dismiss them if you’ve walked past their tiny stand at Superdrug stores but they really are a great budget find for those odd product buys.
With £1 lipsticks that are still great on colour despite needing a generous top up every now & then, £1 nail varnishes if you need a quick change of colour & they even do a £1 mascara in bright pink and blue shades, fantastic!

E.L.F – another great find for budget priced cosmetics with a £1.50 selection of essentials from mascaras to concealers through to a more high end quality studio range starting from £3.50 from eyebrow shaping kits to primers.

Stargazer – for alternative friendly cosmetics that won’t bankrupt you Stargazer are a great little find. Whilst the quality of some products does leave a little to be desired you will find some gems amongst their range, we certainly recommend their eye dusts (fabulous alternatives to MAC’s pigments if your a little strapped for cash), pressed & loose powders.

Barry M are a great high street find for colourful cosmetics, their dazzle dusts & nail paints are always great to have spare.

W7 – a budget brand that’s been around for years doing the run around discount cosmetics sites. Great for staple pieces, they do a fantastic range of eyelashes, foundations & mascaras.

If you’re still craving those designer staples you can’t go wrong by looking around discount sites like Fragrance direct & Direct cosmetics with some bargains to be found from stock that’s simply unboxed but at a snippet of it’s retail price!

When it comes to lingerie we just adore the classics, 40′s girdles, victorian corsets & seamed stockings so an exhibition dedicated to the history of lingerie over the past 350 years, well that just tickles our fancy!

The V & A have delved into the archives of lingerie companies & clothing to piece together the touring Undressed exhibition. Looking at the history of private and intimate clothing – from corsets to court mantuas and boudoir wear to bustles – exploring underwear’s function in decorating and manipulating the body.

Featuring highlights from the V&A’s extensive collection of underwear, the objects will be displayed thematically, and shown alongside contextual images from the V&A’s archives.

From pieces in person to images from companies archives, certainly plenty to inspire on show. Undressed will be on tour again soon, keep an eye on the V & A site for details and places at www.vam.ac.uk/content/articles/t/touring-exhibitions-undressed-350-years-of-underwear-in-fashion/.

Swedish Hasbeens, the retro shoe brand that has been taking the world by storm over the last couple of years, have just opened their pop-up shop in Selfridges’s.

Their pop up store will showcase a wide selection of their SS12 collection, as well as styles exclusive to Selfridges.

One summer’s day in 2006 Swedish Hasbeens’ founders Emy and Cilla found 300 pairs of red, white and black original clogs from the 70’s in the basement of an old clog factory in the Swedish countryside. After bringing their finds to Stockholm they started out by selling clogs to friends, and friends of friends, after which the company grew across the globe. The collection now includes a variation of retro shoe styles – however the best seller still being the traditional clog sandal much loved by celebs like Sarah Jessica Parker, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Julianne Moore.

The Hasbeens toffels, bags and belts are based on original 70’s models and are made of ecologically prepared natural grain leather since it’s the most beautiful and of the highest quality, at the same time as it’s environmentally friendly.

They are still handmade in a traditional way, with respect for people and the environment, in small factories that have been making shoes for decades. The production methods and materials are kind to nature and people. Happy toffels make happy people!

The pop up-shop will be located on the 2nd floor in the Shoe Galleries and will be open for a total of four weeks.

Don’t worry it’s not actual caviar, Ciaté’s new Caviar manicure is all about bubbly nails, think of it as 3 dimension art for your nails that’s a little different to your usual manicure.

Using teeny weeny spheres, a funnel and a tray to catch the spheres, they’ve got the system down perfectly so you can do it at home. The home set launches in April for £18 and includes a Ciaté Polish, the spheres, a funnel and a tray and you’re all set to wear the newest nail trend.

It does involve a lot of time and patience to create the caviar manicure, but what your left with is a perfectly pretty almost sprinkle like look on your nails!

Atsuko Kudo have contributed a special commission piece to the ‘Selling Sex’ exhibition at SHOWstudio Gallery.

The piece, which has been designed and produced for the show, is entitled ‘Armour for Prostitutes’ and marks a further development of Atsuko’s signature couture style.

The ensemble includes a one piece fully filigreed dress and hood combination in black, which also has built in neck and waist corsets.

It is designed to be worn over a cloud grey bustled petticoat – with additional extensive filigree around the hem. It is further accessorised with matching Diana lace filigree black latex over boots and opera gloves.

The ‘Selling Sex’ exhibition contains the work of female artists exclusively. This is a direct response to the ‘lack of female artists’ representation’ in major galleries and the ‘wider under representation’ in the creative and other industries.

Other artists in the show include Una Burke, Sarah Lucas, Betony Vernon, Liz Cohen, Lisa Z. Morgan and Marianne Maric, amongst others.

The show opened with a very well attended private view on March 22, including SHOWstudio’s founder and legendary photographer Nick Knight.

The gallery is situated at SHOWstudio Shop, 1 – 9 Bruton Place, London, W1J 6LT. It is open Monday to Friday, from 11.00 to 18.00.
